Developing Characters and Planning Your Story

Hello Everyone!
I found some more videos and tutorials that will help you when planning out your stories.  Check them out and see if you find them useful!  Thank you to Michelle Ware, the author of both videos.

Developing Believable Characters

Planning with a Story Arc (we will review this more in class, but it is a good preview lesson)

And here is one from Pixar, they talk about how they develop believable characters for animated movies.

Enjoy!

New York Geography and Landforms

Hello Everyone!
I'm back with another weekly post.  We have been studying and learning about the geography of New York.  We learned that New York State has a diverse landscape.  We learned about the different landforms in class.

Below are two links:  One is a photo tour of New York State divided up into the 7 regions, the other is picture dictionary of the most common landforms of New York.  Use the photo tour and see how many of the different landforms you can identify.  It should be a lot of fun!

Enjoy!

Character Traits

Hello Writers!
We have been planning ideas for stories in writing.  The most important part of any fictional story is the character.  Here is a quick animated video on character traits and character development.  I hope you find this useful when you are listing internal and external traits for your character!

Good luck!

Fingerprinting

Hello Everyone!
In science class, we have been learning all about observation skills and how scientists use them to ask and answer questions, make discoveries, collect data and draw conclusions.  We just finished our fingerprinting lab.  We found out that 65% percent of our class fingerprints are loops, 22 % are whorls and 13% are arches.

Here is a cool video on how a Sheriff's department in Polk County uses fingerprints in real world.

I hope you enjoy it!

Finding Factors of Numbers

Hello Class,
Check out this cool video on how to find factors of numbers.  You can use this strategy for finding factors of any number and then to use it to draw arrays!

Have fun!
